Costa Rica’s high season for tourism begins in mid December and continues into late April, usually ending with the Easter Holiday. This time period harmonizes splendidly with the chill of winter in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The high season is also the dry season. In the event that you need some sunny relaxation time on a tropical shoreline, this is an ideal opportunity to come to Costa Rica. Amid the height of this period (particularly amid the Christmas occasion and Holy Week before Easter), the tourism business works at maximum capacity and ALL reservations should be made ahead of time.
Costa Rica’s Summer Season
Costa Rica is a tropical nation and has particular wet and dry seasons. Be that as it may, a few locations have rain all year, and others (Playas del Coco and other spots in Guanacaste) are exceptionally dry and bright for the majority of the year. On the coasts, it’s hot all year; in the mountains, it can be cool in the evening during any season.
Once the dry season really gets up and running each town has their own “Fiestas”. The parties generally consist of rides and games, cerveza and rodeos for about a week. The festivities end with the Tope which is a horse parade that usually takes place on the final sunday of the Fiestas. Playas del Coco generally hosts the Fiestas sometime during the second half of January so if you are in town during that time head over to the bullring near Coco’s gas station to enjoy a night out.
The Papagayo Winds
As the dry season rolls in so does the breeze. Guanacaste is known for it’s Christmas Winds that come in December each year and generally stick around until mid february. These winds are much appreciated by the local folk to cool down as the sun is radiant almost everyday because of the lack of moisture and clouds.
